Our network

Ombrex works through a small, vetted network of senior protection and intelligence professionals, extended only by trusted referral. We are not actively hiring, but we are always interested in exceptional people. This is the standard we work to, the roles we engage, and how to introduce yourself.

Our network
"The whole board, always"

In Go, you do not win by reacting to the last move. You win by seeing the whole board, holding the long view, and building position patiently while others chase the immediate. Protection at this level works the same way, and so does the network behind it. The professionals we work with are known to us, or vouched for by someone whose judgement we trust, and extended only by referral, never by open recruitment.

The standard we work to

The people we work with are senior by any measure. Most come from government service, whether protection, military or intelligence, or from serious commercial practice at the top of the profession. What they share is not a badge but a way of operating: calm, precise, discreet, and genuinely at ease around principals and in demanding and complex environments.

  • Beyond ten years or more of experience, we look for a specific combination.
  • Physically fit and mentally sharp.
  • Fluent English, and at least one or more further working languages. This work is international, and language is not a convenience but a capability.
  • Besides tactically well prepared, a grounding in martial arts or close-combat skill, held as real training rather than a line on a form. It is not only what it is used for but what it says: a budo mindset, etiquette, discipline, composure, and the physical literacy the work occasionally demands.
  • Technical and digital literacy above the norm for the trade. Modern protection is not only physical, and the people who do it well understand the digital and informational dimensions of risk.
  • A professional, business-like presence. Our people move through five-star and corporate environments as naturally as operational ones, and are trusted to represent the standard of the firm.

And above all of it, temperament. Humble, discreet, communicative, without ego. At this level ego is not a personality trait, it is a liability. Ego is not your amigo. The work is collaborative and principal-facing, and the professional who serves the team and the client well is worth more than the one who cannot. We select for this before anything else, because everything else can be read from a record and this cannot.

While some of the finest operators in this profession came through service rather than study, a completed secondary education is expected, and a bachelor's degree or higher is a plus.

References

Relationships at this level are built on trust before capability. We ask that any introduction is accompanied by at least three professional references who can speak to both your work and your character. We take references seriously, and we check them.

The work

Our engagements span the protective spectrum, and the roles reflect that range.

Close protection. The higher-threat end: often armed where the law allows, usually a team, built around a principal whose risk profile justifies a full protective structure. This is protection in the fullest sense, advance work, movement, residential coverage and intelligence woven together.

Personal protection and accompaniment. A lighter posture for a lower-threat picture: frequently a single professional, working more by observation and presence than by visible security, close enough to matter and discreet enough to be forgotten. Different work, different temperament, equally demanding in its own way.

Security drivers. Not chauffeurs in suits. Trained in observation, evasive and defensive driving, route discipline and the vehicle drills that turn a car from a vulnerability into an asset. A genuine protective role, and a distinct skill.

Protective intelligence and analysis. The people who hold the picture: threat assessment, travel intelligence, background and due-diligence work, and the quiet discipline of noticing what matters before it becomes visible. Increasingly the layer on which everything else depends.

Advance and operational support. Those who go ahead, survey the ground, and make the plan the team executes against. Unseen, and often the difference between a movement that runs cleanly and one that does not.

A word on why

Our clients demand the highest standards. We demand the same.

Protection done well is a serious craft, and the people who are good at it tend to love the work itself, not the image of it. We have no place for the theatre that surrounds this profession, the posturing, the manufactured drama, the ego. What we value is quieter and harder: the discipline to prepare properly, the judgement to read a situation early, the composure to handle it without noise, and a genuine sense of responsibility for the people in one's care. If that is how you think about the work, we are the kind of firm you will recognise.

Introducing yourself

If the above describes you, and you are open to being known to us for future work, you are welcome to get in touch. Send a short introduction, your background, and your three references, and we will be in contact if there is a fit, now or when the right engagement arises.
